The business was registered in 2006 as Unplugg IT Solutions by Vusi and Jennifer Mngomezule at a business expo hosted at the Gallagar Estate and started operating in 2007. The aim was to help funeral parlours in South Africa to transform their businesses. To achieve this objective a Funeral Policy Administration system was developed and marketed to funeral parlours. Mothusi was acquired as the first customer in 2008. As the business grew our aim and passion evolved towards for helping our customers build sustainable businesses. We became obsessed with training and helping our customers to use our software and transform their businesses.
In 2011 the business was offered an office by Dariel Solutions, through the help of Greg Vecellati and Anges Gura. In that same year the first employee was hired, Elias Makgatele. It is the same office that gave birth to our logo that was created By Bongani Gosa of ran Breeze Website Designers now breeze Advertising. The business operated from this office until 2013.
In 2013 a new version of the software was develop and moved the software from a desktop application to a web based application. In the same year we also engaged Hemant Yadav, our longest service developer, to assist with the launch of the APP and mobile device. The device enable the parlours with mobile premium collection,
In 2017, the founders engaged Antony Hlungwane to assist with transforming the business. It was only in 2019, that the strategy was agreed and Hlungwane joined the team to drive the execution of the strategy. As part of the strategy the business has attracted key executives with requisite skills and knowledge to help drive the strategy. To date the team has diversified the business into group structure with subsidiaries through start-ups and strategic partnerships. The business changed its name into The Unplugg Group in 2019 and the group consists of the following businesses:
The group is well positioned to further progress it strategy and has achieved most of the foundation phase deliverables. The next 3 year will focus to elevating the our brand and sustaining the business into the future.
